Disk Error Message

Hello,

I have a gateway desktop.

Receiving disk error message with black screen and computer will not boot.

Any help is appreciated.

If you can identify the brand name of the hard disk it might be possible to download a bootable CD image (ISO image) with the manufacturers diagnostic software. Then burn it to a CD. Change the boot order on the Gateway if you need to and run the diagnostic routines. Not all hard disk manufacturers offer this type of software but most do. This will tell you if you have to replace the hard drive.
