Hello,
my cd-rom can play & write CDs as well as play DVDs.
after inserting DVD the drive doesn't recognise the DVD.
Even on exploring nothing is present.

Please tell me what's the problem?
My second question is regarding DRIVERS.
I formatted my PC. I then Installed drivers.
Still the 'STAND BY' option in the start menu is disabled.
WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?

Greetings Shrikrishna,

Concerning your DVD there 3 possible sources to the issue that you must check:

1. The disk is damaged, look for scratches, sometimes even minute.

2. You have not installed all the necessary drivers for that piece of hardware after formatting.

3. The lens for the reader may need to be cleaned. It's possible to purchase a lens cleaning cd.

Concerning you stand-by option

An error occured when you reformatted your XP.

The solution is to insert your XP disk and, if your CD player can read it, reboot your system and choose the repair option.

Good luck
