Laptop not showing unsecured networks

Hello,
I'm having a problem finding unsecured networks on my laptop. I have a second laptop that is currently viewing 4 wireless connections. 2 are secured and 2 unsecured. The laptop is connected to an unsecured network. The problematic laptop is right beside the other and is only showing the 2 secured networks.
Anyone have any solutions?

You should look under the "advanced" tab in you wireless card utility window. You might have an option to only display secured networks. That the best I can do since you didn't tell us your laptop brand and/or model.
