Hi Roland,
This is a frequent issue with laptops.
You did try to adjust the brightness of your screen but in vain. Of course you did.
Inside your screen there are some lights which no doubt have fried, they must be replaced by a in the flesh live technician.
If you laptop is still under warranty or if the warranty expired not long ago, you might be able to have it repaired free.
Where did you purchase it and how long ago? It may be your worth to see if there was a recall.
Regards

Mr.Qatar,
I suggest that you take it to a technician.
Sorry to say but your screen back lights are fried.

Thanks for your inputs. Actually, when I turn on the power to rebooth the computer, the screen lights up clearly for about a second when it reaches that stage flashing "Toshiba Leading Innovation", afterwhich the whole screen becomes dark until the the end of reboothing. So, I don't think there is something wrong with the small bulbs inside the screen because, just as I said, the screen is clearly lighted at that point only. Sometimes the screen gets lighted just for a second when I navigate from welcome screen to desktop. I appreciate your feedbacks again. Have a great day.

I bought by laptop sometime in July 2008 from Jarir Store, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. So, I think the warranty has already expired. Thanks, Roland
