hello there. I have a one gig usb mass storage device that i've been using for 2 years. It has all the most important files i made during the yeaR. oNE DAY I TRIED OPENING IT on my PC. But then it never opened. The dialogue box saya that the device must be FORMATTED. Afraid to format the device because it will all erase the files it had, i tired several programs to heal and rescue it. but then i failed..
after a month, i trried formatting the device. but once again.. it never responded. it did not even started formatting itself. .. i dindt have the installer now..
what shall i do?
really i need those files..
thanks a lot.

Your drive is dead. Windows gives you the "format" message because it can't read the drive NOT because it thinks the drive needs to be formatted. Sorry.
