Excel (Office For Mac) When trying to enter a date the letter "y" inserts itself into the date, no matter what format I use. I wish to enter the date as follows: 17 APR 2011 It becomes 17yapry11. Any suggestions how to correct this? Thkx

Hi Bigratz,
Check your cell properties by right-clicking the cell. I can replicate your result by using this type:
dd"y"mmm"y"yy
Change it to:
dd mmm yyyy
for the desired result.
Best regards,
Trowa
