Hello,
I have a Vaio laptop, VGN series. It was working fine till yesterday. After i turned off the laptop in normal way, i was not able to switch it back. On pushing the power button, there i abolutely no response. No lights, no sound nothing.
I checked the power cord, its fine. I tried removing battery and startnig up, it did not work. Nor re inserting the battery worked.
Can anyone please help. I need data and i wont mind hooking it up with my HP laptop if it can help me to retrieve data.

Dear Jammed,
When you say nothing, does also mean the fan? If the fans also are not running, I am terribly sorry, but I must inform you that your motherboard is toasted and friend.
Best regards

Dear Jammed
If you have the motherboard replaced, the data will remain on the hardisk. If you purchase a new machine, a technician could probably recover your data.
Good luck
