Hello,

The computer recognizes the the USB drive is there, but when I click on it, it says "Please insert a disk into Drive F:" When I right click, and go to properties it says 0% available and 0% Used. One big blue pie of nothing.

Thanks in advance for your answer!

Greetings,

Change the drive letter assignment in the removable drive letter other than C and see if the problem persists

To change the drive letter assignments in Windows XP, follow these steps:

1-Log on the computer as an administrator.

2-Insert a disk in the removable drive.

3-Click Start, right-click My Computer and click Manage.

4-Click on Disk Management.

5-Right-click on the partition, logical drive or volume you want change, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.

6-Click on the removable drive, click Edit, click the drive letter you want, and click OK.

Good Luck

This is a link to the HP formatting tool - it might format your drive. Most likely your drive is DEAD.

Good Luck.

Greetings to you both, please let me share my humble opinion on the subject.

Bionik has given the wisest advice to recover your flash despite fact that we don't know the brand name of the flash in question, for if it is a Transcend, there is special way to format it.

I suggest the following and if again it fails, I would tend to agree with Bionik that the flash has been physically damaged or is corrupted beyond repair.

go to My computer>right click>manage>disk management

select the pen drive there separately and format...... check it again

if it doesnt works then again go to same location select your pen drive and opt for delete logical drive

then again right click to form a new partition or logical drive..... select form a new logical drive and again format it completely..

Note: dont opt for quick format,,, let it format completely.

Good luck

Then, I must say your flash is beyond repair. It happens often when pulling back on the flash even on a slight angle and not straight.

Sorry about that chief.
