its windows 7 ultimate.
icons are not changed but when i double click them, they close down in a flash.
nothings working, just the desktop i m able to see.

Try this 1
Check if you are able to perform "System Restore"
Click on Start --> In search box, type sysdm.cpl and press Enter. "System Properties" window will be opened.
Click on the "System Protection" tab --> Click on "System Restore" tab --> Click on "Next" --> Select "Choose a different restore point" option --> Select your restore point and follow the instructions.
