Tough Black Screen Issue, Please Help

Hello, My computer gets a black screens randomly but within 30 secs of startup. I have Windows 7, I put the windows 7 disc in, press to boot from disc, it begins to run then I get the black screen. I can't even get into the disc menu to reinstall, reformat, or fix a boot sector. Is my hardrive just screwed or what? Please Help

I would test your computer with a Linux boot CD.
1. Start the computer - go to the BIOS settings and change it to boot from the CD.
2. turn off the computer - put Linux CD into drive and turn power back on
3. Select the option to boot from the CD. Do NOT install Linux.
4. If the Laptop boots OK then the problem is with the hard drive. If not, then the problem is on the motherboard.

Well I don'r have a Linux CD at the moment but thanks, I think you told me what I needed to know....That I'm screwed, Dumping over $100 in this thing would be pointless. Thanks for responding
