If you look through the forum, some users have reported that it can take as long as a week or two.
There is presently an epidemic of Hotmail/MSN accounts and Microsoft is no doubt flooded with recovery requests.
In my opinion, it's unsafe to store any data on Hotmail/MSN without a backup.
