Connecting my laptop to my logik tv

Hello, I would be forever in your debt if anyone could explain to me why my logik tv switches to stand-by when I try to connect my dell 1525 highsteet shops cannot help. thank you .

What are the ports available on your tv set ?which tyoe of cable are you using to connect your tv and laptop and what is the size of tv?
