Try doing a reset from the iPod itself. Go to settings, general, reset, then select erase all content. This is the way on the iPod Touch 1st Gen. Yours may be different but try clearing it without using the PC. Otherwise, i suggest you ask apple or take it to your nearest apple store. Good luck
