I accidentally removed my sound by deleting from the Add/Remove feature.
If you have just lost sound recently go to System Restore and click on each day and it will tell you when you deleted your sound system. For example mine was Realtek HD Audio disk. However your sound may have a different name. My computer runs Windows XP. Then follow the undernoted:
Open: My computer
Click: Yellow folder (Recovery D)
Click: Yellow folder (Drivers)
Click: Yellow folder (Sound)
Click: Yellow folder (Realtek) (again to remind you this is the name of my sound device)
Click: Yellow folder (R2.04)
Click: Now a number of folders appear and icons are listed. The one I clicked was Setup.ex (Macrovision Corporation). Again I do not know if this icon would suit everyone.
The Wizard will now open up and you can install your lost sound driver.
This all worked for me. Trust it does for anyone who attempts it.
