Vista startup

Hello,
I have a toshiba satellite a305-s6825 I ran recovery disk now it will not go past the screen with the green line @ start up, It loaded all drivers and restarted for finilization said that it was check system performance and got about 2inches away from finishing and froze up so i restarted and actually did something to get windows to come up and everything worked even downloade windows update and when it restarted nothing will come up but black screen.
anything would be helpfull cause I just sold it and ran that disk for him to get a fresh start and now this

I would just start the recovery over.
