your sound driver is messed up, google your laptop model with the words "sound driver", or multimedia driver and you will find it, its usually on the manufacturers website somewhere

Just because you didnt find it doesnt mean it isn't there, i am kinda busy but if you post your computers make, model and model number i will see if i can find it for you.
great id appreciate that.its an acer laptop.aspire 3660 series.model number zb3.that is the information on the laptop underside.however,it is a refurbished laptop and there is a sticker on it which says that it is an acer aspire 3662 WLMi,so im a bit confused as to what model it is.thanks for you help.

that will have the drivers you need, you will need to enter the model number and such into the boxes provided and it should give you a list of drivers, if you get into trouble there is a number for customer support on the bottom of the page. If its refurbished you will have to enter the refurbished number
