Hi,
Try to verify that your HHD is healthy with seatools :

I have downloaded seatools and tried it, during the installation it was asking to install dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64. I did both, restarted the system , but the system is getting hung so often after the installations. I am using an Asus K52F laptop with a pentium P6100 2.0 GHz CPU, 3GB memory and windows 7.basic. Moreover using the seatool taking much time to get any results. I did check disc management and it say Layout - simple, Type - basic, File system- RAW, status - healthy(active, primary partition), Capacity 456.76 GB, free space 456.76 (100%).
Can you please advice further ?
regards,
Aneesh.

What I think is that you should try to save your data on your computer or on DVD or an other USB device by using a Linux CD live like Puppy Linux CD Live and after that you should try to reformat your external HDD.
