Compaq presario wont start

Hello,

I have a compaq presario cq56 laptop. When I tried to start my machine it goes to a red screen with the compaq emblem, it then blinks, goes black then goes back to the red screen. I have taken out the battery, pressed the power button for more than 15 seconds without power cord attached. I have attempted to restart. I have tried system recovery. don't know what else to do. please help.
