«My wireless no longer works!»

My internet works altough my wireless internet doesn't. I have a hp laptop and windows vista. The 'slider' which you slide to enable wireless internet remains amber.Whichever way you slide it, it never turns blue which shows that wireless has been enabled. It stays amber. It used to work but now it doesn't. Why doesn't my wireless internet connection work? Why does the slider remain amber?
