Laptop won't connect to monitor

Hello, When I connect my laptop to the monitor, it shows up until it gets to the log in screen. My laptop screen is broken so I cannot see what it is doing. It was working fine not long ago and now it won't go past the login screen through the monitor.. Someone please HELP!!
My laptop is a toshiba notebook.

Why won't they connect? They were connected previously. Like not even an hour ago.
