Connect your ipod, open 'my computer', right click the ipod and click explore. Then find the 'songs' or 'music' folder (it will be hidden, go to tools-->folder options and check 'show hidden files/folders' if you don't see the music folder). Then copy your music in.
Ipods use an encryption though when they transfer the music, so your songs will show up with weird sequences of characters as the name. I would just download iTunes.
