Hello,

After runing a scan on my sony (vaio) laptop, I was stuck at the login screen when the system reboot. Could not move the mouse and the keyboard didn't respond either :-(
I restarted the system inserting a CDBoot for recovery then select Dos program but I couldn't go further, coz it appears: <Windowsroot>\system32\hal.dll (dirty)
Please could please help me on this one?? :-(

It is possible that this is caused by a hardware failure such as your CPU or graphics card failing. Overheating is not excluded - does your Vaio become too hot before it freezes?
