Dell laptop black screen

Hello, I have a dell laptop, when I start it up, all I get is a black screen and the white cursor up in the left corner. When I power up and hold the f12 button down then I get the pre-boot screen and it goes through all the test, and says it found no problems, to press any key to continue, then it does absolutely nothing. I cannot do anything with this computer. Can anyone please help me in plain english if possible, thank-you so much.. I'm almost in tears.. I have windows 7, if that matters..

Hello,

Try this 1

Switch ON your laptop --> Press F2 --> When the BIOS screen appears, select

the option "Boot sequence or Boot Options" --> Set the first boot device

as hard disk --> Save the settings and exist from the BIOS.

[Note: Use the arrow keys to make changes in the BIOS. All the information

regarding making changes and selecting a option instructions can be found in the

BIOS screen itself]
