Hello, I just saw this and it is exactly my issue except I have an N7010. can someone help me? last night I had to connect my external speakers to laptop for sound in order to watch hulu on tv.

"Hello, Have a Dell Inspiron N7110 Laptop, was having no problem using a HDMI cable to send what was on my laptop display to my TV. Video and Sound were working fine. Now i just started getting the video signal but no sound to tv. The sound comes out of my laptop but not the tv. Haven't made any changes to my tv or laptop recently.....what could be the problem? Appreciate any help i can get.... "

You need to change to use the sound processor on the video card if you want to have sound through the HDMI port. I suggest you check the sound options in the Control Panel.

Good Luck

What do you mean change sound processor? I've gone to playback devices and what shows is the TV but doesn't say, hdmi, but "Intel Display Audio" 2 days ago it worked just fine, that's why I can't understand why it isn't working. I've not done anything different.

Well You didn't tell us the whole story. The "Intel Display Audio" is the audio processor on the video card so that is not the problem. This is the most common problem people have with connecting a laptop to a TV.

You might have a HDMI cable problem or a problem with the TV settings.

those cables can be fickle to be so expensive, I guess. I'll mess around with it some more. Perhaps I'll switch the cable with the one i have hooked to blu-ray/tv and see what happens.
