I need to change the HD in my Toshiba Satellite M45. I want to install a much larger HD. Do I need to change anything else?, Will this help the speed or will that need something else to speed it up?

Changing to a larger drive will not help the speed.
What will is changing to:
1. changing to a 7200 RPM drive (assuming you have a 5400 RPM drive)
2. changing to a SSD drive (solid state drive).
You will need a external drive adapter and special software to clone the drive.
