Hi jaebird,

Note: In case of expired warranty scenario, I would be able to provide limited support, which will not cover part replacement, software support and onsite technician.

Please try the below mentioned steps and reply with the results:

1. Check if the Flickering issue occurs on Dell Logo and in BIOS.
2. If same issue is seen on dell Logo and in BIOS, Follow "Outside OS troubleshooting" below, else follow "Within OS troubleshooting".
Outside OS Troubleshooting
1. Clean the screen for smudges or marks. GENTLY using a soft damp (light wet) cloth with system turned off.
2. Increase or decrease brightness using the function keys.
3. Try connecting a known good external monitor. If known good monitor does not works fine follow next steps.
4. Run LCD BIST (to run LCD BIST, power off the computer and then press and hold the Letter `D' on the keyboard and then press the power button, color patterns should be displayed). Check if the Flickering issue occurs during LCD BIST.
5. Run Dell 32 Bit diagnostics - Custom test on Video card. http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kcs/document?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&docid=DSN_A9E3A15597A04AFBB02EE16785D39C5C&isLegacy=true

Inside OS Troubleshooting

1. Run MS Fix-It: Solve Windows display quality issues:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2970908/how-to-use-microsoft-easy-fix-solutions
2. Increase or decrease brightness using the function keys.
3. Download the updated video driver and BIOS. Uninstall current video driver and then install the updated Video driver and BIOS which are downloaded. You can download the driver and BIOS from: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/Product/inspiron-14r-n4110
Note: Plug your computer to a good, working UPS before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.

Do reply with results.
