Is your PC always shutting itself off while you're on Windows? Or does it shut down too if you open the BIOS configuration screen and leave it alone? If it only shuts down while on Windows. Try this, get a Linux LiveCD and boot the PC off it. Use the PC as you would normally, if it shuts down suddenly then it's hardware problems, if it doesn't it's a software problem and restoring to factory settings might solve it.

You may check to see if your warranty is valid at this HP web document.
Have you checked to see if dust or something else is obstructing the vents on your notebook?
I suspect either that or perhaps an overheating issue. I perused the BIOS offerings and saw no updates that addressed an issue such as shutdowns.
