Today my external hard drive has a shortcut icon of the external hard drive. There were no of my files and folders. When i click on the shortcut, the shortcut directs me to my folders and files. I tried backup and reformatting but still does not remove the shortcut icon of my external hard drive inside the external hard drive.

1) Does your external drive shortcut appears inside the drive ?
2) Are you able to see your files?
3) Let us know the error message your are getting when trying to delete it.
4) Right-click on your external drive --> Select "Properties". Does it shows correct used space?
