Windows not reading hard drive

Hello,
I have a verbatim 2tb hard drive that since last nights windows update is no longer being read by windows. The drive is still readable if i plug it into another computer (raspberry pi or even my linux virtual machine in vmware). I was also installing plex media server last night so that might be part of the problem.
When i plug in the drive nothing happens but when i unplug the drive a window pops up telling me to format the drive.

it is also causing windows explorer to hang and restart
