Hp laptop wont start

hi there, pls help.
My hp G61 laptop doesnt turn on. my battery needed replacement but now when i put the laptop on charging, no light turns on. When i remove the battery and put on chrging the charging light turns on for few seconds and goes back off. NO sign of charging is shown by laptop. please help im really frustrated. thanks in advance.

Try to leave for 24 hours battery and laptop power cord charging and see how it goes.
