Hi narihamek,
Please try the below mentioned steps and check if this fixes the problem:
1. If you are trying to play only one disc (CD/DVD/BD) and the problem happens, try a different media and check.
2. Run Optical Drive Troubleshooter from Microsoft. Click here to run Optical Drive Troubleshooter.
3. Download and Install the Latest Optical Drive Firmware and from here.
4. If the above two steps do not work, please contact Acer support.
Do reply with results.
Thanks & Regards

Hi narihamek,
"DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device" is a virtual device this is not the actual Optical Drive. "Acer Aspire M3920 Desktop Series" comes with "BD reader and SuperMulti burner". Please check in BIOS if the "BD reader and SuperMulti burner" is detected. To enter BIOS press Del or F2 immediately after powering on.

Hello Zohaib R.
I have accessed BIOS and I think it detects it. I looked at the boot sequence and it shows this
1. EFI
2. Hard disk
3.CD/DVD
4. Removable
5. LAN

Hi narihamek,
As you have already checked the boot sequence and it shows that the Optical Drive is detected, please use a bootable disc such as the Windows Operating System disc or the Drivers disc to boot and see if you are able to boot with a bootable disc. This is to verify if the problem exists inside Windows Operating System or is a Hardware problem.
Do reply with results.

Hi Zohaib R.
I'll try that out but I currently do not have a bootable disc on me. I'll need a couple of days to acquire one. Thanks for seeing this through. Will be back with results.

Thank you for helping me out but here are the results :-
1. Other media does not work on the drive. (But does on a different portable one that I have)
2. I ran the Optical Drive Troubleshooter and it says "Media in CD/DVD drive is not readable (DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device)"
3. I've keyed in my pc specifics but I do not see any optical drive firmware that I can download. I have even downloaded the hardware detection assist offered on the page but does not show that my CD/DVD drive on the list.
4. I plan to contact acer support but fear I won't get any replies from them anytime soon.
Are there any other options available?
