hi my feiance has a dell insperon 1721 and she is having problems with it when you turn it on you can hear it turn on but the screen doesn't turn on at all I took the battery out and put it back in and it didn't change it any and the little icons on the key board above the buttons usually light up and they don't light up either what can I do to trouble shoot the problem she is having

Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your laptop, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the laptop.

removed battery and charger/ac adapter/ power cord and then pushed power button and held it down for 30 seconds and the screen is still black when you turn the lap top on what can I try next or what do you think the problem is we really don't want to buy a new computer if we don't have to Thanks
