I'm running Windows XP with Internet Explorer8 - The Diag. says that ports 80,443, and 21 are closed. I cannot open the secuity or the firewall icons. I think I have a virus of some kind. Any ideas would help.

Hi there.

do you have another computer you can use and access the internet from?

If so, i recommend going to https://www.malwarebytes.com/ and download the free version.

Install this to the infected computer and run a full scan on there.

Removed the infected items and restart.

Once you've restarted to go Start > Control Panel > Internet Options

go to the far right "advanced" tab and select "Reset" and "Restore advanced settings".

Press OK and see if you can access the internet again.

If you can, open up malwarebytes and download the updates for the problem. Run another full scan.

You may also need to reset your firewall settings by going to Start > control panel > Windows Firewall and select "restore defaults".
