Sir

I am having this problem and I med some help the issue is "Limited or no Connectivity".

Have a ThinkPad T42, 2378, c88
Windows XP SP3
Cisco System PCI Wireless LAN Adapter
Location PCI Slot 1 (PCI bus 2, device 2, Function 0)
Driver Provider Cisco, Driver Date 9/20/2004, Driver Version 3.9.16.0,
Digital Signer Microsoft Compatibility there is no conflict, this device is working properly.

I have a NETGEAR Router WGR614v10, Version V1.0.2.60_60.0.85NA,
Tow desktop system WINDOWS 7 HOME Premium Hard Ethernet to the router
The ThinkPad is Ethernet and did work wirelessly my hard drive died this is a new install

When I do a ipconfig /all see the Mac Address, and the IP Address for the Desktop 192.168.1.4 Ethernet and the Physical Address 00.0E.9B.48.8F.13, Dhcp Enabled YES Autoconfiguration Enabled YES Autoconfiguration IP Address 169,254.78.38 Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0 Default Gateway nothing for ThinkPad?

When I look at the NETGEAR Router I see the IP address For the Ethernet desktops and the NETGEAR Extender the TABLET. I see the MAC Address for the ThinkPad but no Device Name or IP Address.

When I look at the wireless WIRELESS NETWORK CONNECTION right click and go to he STATUS I see under SUPPORT then DETAILS I see

IP ADDRESS 169.254.78.38
SUBNET MASK 255.255.255.0
DNS SERVER

When I deselect USE WINDOWS TO CONFIGURE MY WIRELESS NETWORK SETTING I don't see any on the THINKPAD or ROUTER.

One other question is ware WINDOWS get this IP ADDRESS from if I could tell WINDOWS to use a IP ADDRESS that my router would like that work for me
When I hold the mouse over the icon in the TASKBAR I see a yellow triangle?

Hello,

it sounds like your laptop isn't getting an IP address from the router.

could you try plugging in an ethernet cable and seeing if you get one that way?

Your router is a DHCP Server which gives out the IP addresses to devices.

You could always give yourself a static IP address.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections

Right click your wireless adapter and go to properties

Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IP)

Give yourself the following:

IP Address: 192.168.1.200
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

Primary DNS: 192.168.1.1
Secondary: leave blank

You may need to confirm the default gateway and DNS by doing ipconfig /all on your desktop and checking there.
