Hello,My laptop dies frequently - using XP with limited memory On start up it asks for disc check but sometimes needs 5 or 6 reboots to get through 100% of the check. I think the drive is dying? Can I set up to run to boot & run off an external USB hard drive? If so how do I disable the internal drive Many thanks

You must change the Boot Device in the BIOS to the USB device. Not all BIOS's can boot from an external USB device. Good Luck

I know about changing bios. My question goes further How to avoid using the internal drive at all as it is unreliable I would move all programs to external & make desktop icons point to extrenal location Will this work?
