I have a Norton security package and I keep getting pop up messages like"high disk usage by ..." What does "high disk usage and high memory usage" mean and is it bad for my laptop? Just want to make sure... thanx a million.

Norton is trying to alert you that you might have a malware type program that is consuming the computer resources. You could press Ctrl+Alt+Del (all at the same time) to get into "Task Manager" You want to look at the "Applications" list to see what is running. You could also look at "Processes". But, there a dozens of processes that are normal for Windows to run.

You could also download some anti-malware programs like Malwarebytes or Spybot. They might be able to identify malware that Norton misses.

Spybot is now surpassed and outdated

The very best way to get rid of pop ups is this way:

Download the following Adwcleaner created by Xplode
https://ccm.net/downloads/security-and-maintenance/6911-adwcleaner/
Launch it (for Windows 7 and 8, click right to run as administrator)
Click on delete
