Hello, I am pretty new to using spreadsheets. I have a large spreadsheet with part numbers and I want to add a FJ prefix at the start of the part numbers in column A. Is there an easy way to do this as It is going to take me forever doing them individually? If anyone can explain please, in simple terms I would be most grateful. Thanks in advance

Chillired, Good evening.

Try to do:

--> Select column A
--> Menu Format
--> Format Cell
--> Number
--> Custom
--> Type FJ at the Type field, before the mask that appears.
OK

Is this what you want?
I hope it helps.

Thank you for the link. I have now managed to do it by creating a new column and adding a prefix to the front in the new column. Problem now is that I don't really want two columns so tried to delete one but it then moves column B over to A and puts in #REF! and takes away my part numbers! I tried to copy column B and put into column A and it does the same but puts #REF! in both columns.

Not sure what I am doing wrong. By the way it is a CSV file not sure if that makes a difference?
