I assume you want the external monitor to be a clone of the laptop screen. You have probably switched modes (some laptops have a PF key that will do this). I suggest you go to the Control Panel and look for the Intel icon. Click on that and you will probably get a screen that can adjust what the external monitor displays. I assume it's "clone" mode to show exactly what is on the laptop screen.
