Can't Drag & Drop or Copy & Paste

I'm facing 2 problems that I need help in:

1. I can't copy and paste or drag and drop files from or to my laptop.
2. Clicking on the start menu does not activate the drop-down list the very first time so I use the key instead.

Can anybody give me some pointers?
