Have you tried the Dell hardware diagnostic. Just press F12 when you see the Dell logo. You might need to press it 4 or 5 times.

Good Luck

I know this is not what you will want to hear, but according to the Dell Support site, error code 2000-0146 indicates: DST Log contains previous error(s). This means that the drive is failing and needs to be replaced. ASAP is best. I would suggest that you backup anything on the current drive that want to move to the new drive. If the computer is under warranty, contact Dell Support and they should ship you a new drive. If there is no warranty remaining, you will need to purchase a similar type of drive. Once you have the new drive, install it and then reinstall your software. It should go more quickly is you can use the recovery CDs that were shipped with the computer originally.

This error can also happen on older Dell laptops when someone has changed the BIOS hard drive interface setting from AHCI to ATA or ATA to AHCI.
