Format based on another cell with a letter.

Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to apply a format formula to a cell but to use a letter as criteria instead of a number?

Example:

=D3=A

I've tried to use this formula but it seems to be working with numeric values only.

OK, so put some QUOTES around the letter (like "A").

So your formula is =D3+"A".

Post a picture of what you are trying to accomplish if this doesn't help.
