Hi towson,
I am guessing this is a laptop.
It is possible that the plug has come some of the way out of the socket (either at the screen side (in the lid) or at the motherboard end), but I'm afraid this is more likely to be a failing screen which will need replacement.
If you are VERY lucky, you might be able to limp through this until you can get a monitor. You might be able to adjust your screen resolution so you can see at least most of the desktop, but this relies on the hardware and the drivers you have in place and the age of the laptop. Not all machines can do this ... you might be able to change the resolution, but the desktop still fills all of the screen with most - just the icons and everything is small!
Also you could try with an external monitor.
Good luck.
I really appreciate thank you messages as a payment for solving issues :o)
