Hello, I am experiencing trouble with Windows 8 and my external drives. After several uses, the pen drives and external disks are no longer recognized by windows. The larger WD end up being able to be read only in MACs. The smaller jump drives (less than 1 terra) go totally invisible. Is this a Windows 8 problem that erases the exec extensions and renders external drives inoperable? I need help getting these (now a total of 4) external drives fixed. Any help is welcomed.

After plugging in the device, go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.
Try connecting the device again
