Just 3 silly questions to start with ...
Has anything been spilled on the laptop?
Has the machine been taken appart recently?
Can you get into Bios by repeatedly hitting the [F2], or [Delete] keys (depending on your system) or into Safe mode by repeatedly hitting the [f8] key (assuming its pre Windows 8 and not LINUX)?
