type a date in a cell according to regional convention(either m/d/yy or d/m/yy).see control panel-region and language-short date.
Then click format-date
there is one format day, date
take the cursor to the bottom right when cursor turns to black plus sig. click this plus sign and drag the mouse down.
you get something like this
