You probably killed the laptop with a failed BIOS update. It's only useful to salvage parts.

Might help:
Go to control panel>ease of access>change how your keyboard works
Uncheck any of the following that are currently checked:
Mouse keys
Sticky keys
Filter keys
For me, the "turn on filter keys" was checked. Once I unchecked it I was able to type.
