Cannot open local disk drive E.

Hello,
I am using Windows 8. I don't know what happened but few months back my laptop started to run very slow, and it always kept asking for updates. This might be any virus but yesterday I cannot open e: drive. I don't didn't did anything and at startup it showed automatic repair and update. Then scanning and repairing e: drive. And when I logged in I could just see the icon of drive e. While other drives are accessible, but still the laptop is very slow. I cannot even view properties of this drive. Help!! Any solutions
