Hot to retrieve email account without the alternative email acct

Hello,
I forgot my password. The only option that comes up for recovery is to use my alternate email and nothing more. My alternate email was my wife email which is no longer functional. I cannot see any link asking for phone number or security questions. I lost access to my alternate email. Please can anyone help me with ideas on how to reset my password without the use of alternate email

Sorry but Gmail must send you a reset code and the only place is your alternate.
Anyway, if there is no activity on an account for 30 days or more, it is automatically deleted from the server.
