Hi,
I have a Dell inspiron 15 3537 - i7 - 1TB HDD. Since a month I am facing a start up problem in my Laptop. When I Switch on the button, the lights r on but the screen is blank and a different kind of beep sound (actually not a beep sound but a sound as if someone hits a wooden plank) is heard.I have To switch it Off and restart several times if my luck is good the laptop starts. When I hibernate its very difficult for me to restart the laptop as I face the same problem. I removed WINDOWS 8 and installed MS OFFICE 2007 and SAP] FICO software in it.Am very disappointed since a month. Please help !!

Hello brao7,

Can you tell me, do you hear it when you are able to boot? This clicking sound that you hear might be caused by either fan or hard drive failing. My suggestion is, if your laptop is out of warranty, to open it and pull out the hard drive. After that, try to connect it to another PC via SATA-USB cable to see if it will make a clicking noise there too. If it does, then it has probably a mechanical problem and has to be replaced with another drive.
If it works smoothly, then the problem is related to the fan of your motherboard.

Hope this helps.
