My iPod 5 is completely dead but it won't charge

Hello, my iPod 5 completely died last night and I left it to charge all night, but when I woke up and pressed the home button, the first image appeared. As soon as I unplug it, the second imagine appears. I've tried 2 different USB cords and I've tried pressing the buttons but it continues to do the same. Please help! :(
